Aloha State

The state of Hawaii consists of eight main islands: Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe and the Big Island of Hawaii. This is the state of perpetual summer, beaches that are covered with black or white sand, beautiful scenery, lagoons with blue water, rainbows, warm water and great surfing. People move to Hawaii for any number of reasons and living here is about as expensive as living in New York, San Francisco, Miami or Seattle. With the exception of Honolulu, the pace of live is much slower than what you might be used to on the mainland. Whatever your reasons, Hawaii is wonderful place to live or retire.

Hawaii's most valuable crops are sugar cane and pineapples. Hawaii produces large quantities of flowers (many for export), coffee, macadamia nuts, avocados, bananas, guavas, papayas, tomatoes and other fruit. Vegetables raised for local use include beans, corn, lettuce, potatoes and taro. Beef cattle, dairy, eggs and hogs are the livestock products.

Hawaii's leading manufacturing activity is food processing that includes the refining of sugar and canning of pineapple. Other processed food products are bread, candy, dairy products, juices and soft drinks. Other areas of processing and manufacturing include printed materials (mostly newspapers), refined petroleum, stone, clay, glass products and clothing.
