Air Service in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia Ending
According to the November 27, 2009 edition of the Chronicle Herald "Unanticipated expenses have played a hand in ending Starlink's air service into Yarmouth, the chairman of the Yarmouth International Airport Corporation said Friday.
However, Martin Pink said the corporation is hopeful a regularly scheduled passenger air service can be maintained, whether it is Starlink Aviation or some other airline. Starlink announced Thursday it plans to end the service on Monday.
Starlink began a five-day service between Halifax, Yarmouth and Portland, Maine in February with a 16-passenger Jet-stream aircraft.
Starlink's passenger numbers weren't too bad and in June and July carried almost 1,000 passengers, said Brenda Libby, Starlink's regional marketing manager."
Although the loss of this air service in Yarmouth is disappointing to the Town of Yarmouth "Mr. Pink said the corporation's executive director David Rankin is working on 'lots of different fronts. We are talking with the province and we do have some things lined up to see where we are going to go.' "
